Become a Care (Education) and Treatment Review Clinical Expert

We’re looking for Clinical Experts to be part of Care (Education) and Treatment Review panels reviewing the care and treatment of people with a learning disability.

About Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews (C(E)TRs)

C(E)TRs provide a person-centred, independent review of a person’s care and treatment to ensure it is given in the least restrictive way. A review may be carried out for people who are staying too long in hospital settings, or who are likely to be admitted to a mental health or learning disability ward in future.

About the role

As a Clinical Expert, you will be part of an independent panel with a Chair and an Expert by Experience to review the situation of a person with a learning disability.

You will meet with the person, their family and professionals involved in their care to discuss their situation using the C(E)TR key lines of enquiry tool. You will help to identify any barriers to discharge and the support that is needed to enable the person to live their life in the community.

Who we’re looking for

Clinical Experts should be health and social care professionals who have experience of working with people with a learning disability (such as social workers, psychiatrists, psychologists or nurses). You will be available to take part in panel meetings on an ad hoc basis, using your experience and expertise to provide an independent perspective and ensure the person has an equal voice in planning the care and treatment they receive.

Clinical Experts must have a professional qualification and active registration with a relevant professional body.

Pay and expenses

The rate of pay is £165.37 per review, which includes pre-reading case notes, attending the panel meeting and any follow up actions agreed as a panel. Payment can be received either as an employee of Your Voice Counts or by invoice on a freelance basis. Expenses can be agreed on a case by case basis.

Interested?

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your skills and experience in a flexible way to help ensure that people with a learning disability receive the care and treatment that is right for them. You will make new contacts, work alongside Experts by Experience and make a real difference to people with a learning disability.
