During Advocacy Awareness Week, we’re celebrating the people and moments that remind us why advocacy exists.
This year's theme is 'Why Advocacy?' and to us the answers are simple:
Because being heard changes everything.
Because understanding your rights changes everything.
Because having someone by your side changes everything.
Advocacy isn’t just about attending meetings or writing reports. It’s about being the calm, consistent voice that helps someone understand their rights, navigate complex systems and stay part of decisions about their own life.
In health and social care, where information can be overwhelming, that clarity changes outcomes. It prevents misunderstandings. It builds trust. It restores confidence.
As one person told us:
“She explained everything and what he would be able to do. She was the voice of reason.”
Watch our short video for more examples of #AdvocacyInAction and answers to the question #WhyAdvocacy.
