Launching our accessible staff handbook
In September we launched our brand new accessible staff handbook at a special event at The Word in South Shields.
We employ 25 people with lived experience of using our services so we want to make sure everything we do is accessible to all of our staff members. Experts by experience are at the heart of this so we were very proud to launch our new staff handbook that had been co-produced by some of our colleagues who have lived experience.
The handbook is designed in an Easy Read format so it's easy for people with learning disabilities to understand, and also includes links to lots of short videos that provide the information in an alternative format for people who would rather watch a video.
We received some great feedback from colleagues who attended the launch event and plan to develop more of our resources in this way over the coming year:
