Equal People is an Involvement Group based in South Tyneside made up of people with a learning disability. Our job is to get involved in our local community to improve services for all people with learning disabilities.  To do this, we gather the views of people with learning disabilities and make sure these views are listened to by decision makers.

Equal People

The main way that we do this is through our Equal People Network, this our network of groups, services and individuals who share information and ideas about how to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and their families. We use the network to share important information about the issues affecting people with learning disabilities and to gather people's views and opinions.

Over the past few years we have consulted people on key issues using our '100 Voices' reports. For each report we spoke to 100 people with a learning disability, ask them for their views and used this views to come up with recommendations.  We held an event for each report and brought people together to try and think about next steps.
