Personal Health Budgets Champions

We are delighted to announce that we have recently employed a team of people with learning disabilities to work as Personal Health Budget Champions.

Commissioned by South Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group and Local Authority, the Champions will work with the learning disability community in South Tyneside to help raise awareness about Personal Health Budgets.

Personal Health Budgets are designed to give people more choice and control over the services and support they get to live healthy and well.

Gateshead People's user-led group ‘Involvement Now’ helped us to hold a recruitment day and 19 people applied for the job. We had a very difficult decision to narrow the applicants down to just 3 people, but we're delighted to be able to introduce you to the newest members of our team.

"We want to speak to people with learning disabilities who already have a Personal Health Budget to find out what difference it has made, and to get advice that could help others thinking about getting a Personal Health Budget."

If you live in South Tyneside and have a story to share, or would like to find out more about Personal Health Budgets, please get in touch.
