Safe Places
Shelia Nesbit the Chairperson of Gateshead People recently graduated from Inclusion North's Tomorrow's Leaders course. As part of this course Shelia did some research into some of the Safe Places in Gateshead - you can read more about this here.
We thought it would be useful to share some information about Safe Places and where they can be found.
What is a Safe Place?
A ‘Safe Place’ is somewhere you can go to get help if you are in trouble.
•You might be lost
•You might have got split up from your carer.
•You have lost your purse or your wallet
•Had something stolen
•Been bullied
•Upset about something
Lots of self advocacy groups, such as Gateshead People, Sunderland People First, Better Days and Talk 2 Us have done work around Safe Places.

They provide training for staff who will be working in the Safe Places.
If you see this sticker in a window you know somewhere is a ‘Safe Place’.
