Happy Angels are a group of people who meet up once a month to spend time together, to do things that they enjoy doing and to explore what friendship means to people with learning disabilities.
It can be very difficult for people with learning disabilities to get together with their friends especially in evening times. That is why the Happy Angels decided to set up this group. It gives them a chance to spend time together and to do the things they want to do. In the past they have done things like:
At the moment the group are interested in exploring what friendship means for people with learning disabilities. They want to find out how easy it is for people with learning disabilities in Gateshead to make friends and to keep friends. They want to find out what the difficulties are around this and what help is out there. They hope to make a DVD about what they find out.
